Vision SoHo is now Village Soho

The Vision SoHo Alliance, a partnership of six non-profit housing developers, has officially changed its name to Village SoHo. This new brand reflects the community's vision of a vibrant and inclusive mixed-income rental apartment development. The first model suites for Village SoHo are expected to open for viewing at the end of May 2025.

Vision SoHo Alliance

The Vision SoHo Alliance was conceived as a groundbreaking initiative, a first-of-its-kind partnership in Canada, bringing together six non-profit housing developers, invited by the London Community Foundation, with the ambitious goal of building the single largest affordable housing development in London's history. This significant project has been taking shape on the former Victoria Hospital lands in the SoHo community, laying the groundwork for what was intended to be a total of 690 rental units.

SoHo, or South of Horton, is one of the city’s oldest neighbourhoods. Formerly called St. David’s Ward, SoHo has been home over the years to indigenous people and immigrants from many countries. As a result, this community has cultural diversity.

To celebrate this history, stories collected during a two-year project by public historians at Western University will be installed on plaques, art and interactive displays on the site of the new housing development. New tenants and the community can gain a perspective of their home through history.

In addition, the Vision SoHo Alliance will be involved in a food sustainability project made possible thanks to a generous donation to the London Community Foundation.

The initial vision has evolved and is actively progressing as Village SoHo, a continuation and elaboration of the original housing community initiative. While the original framework was established by the Vision SoHo Alliance, the project and its various initiative continue under the Village SoHo banner, with some of the buildings nearing completion and other developments actively taking shape.
